The following instructions are for international students applying for the F-1 student visa. If you are curious about the requirements for other visa types, please contact the IEP directly.
There are two ways to Apply:
Send the following items to the IEP (iep@miami.edu):
- A completed English application
- A photocopy of your passport ID page (for you and your dependents)
- A Bank Verification Letter (The bank letter must document a minimum of $16,800 for applicants to the full session program, and $10,500 for applicants to the mid session. An additional $4,500 per session is required for each dependent included on the Form I-20)
- A non-refundable/non-transferable $100 application fee (You may pay by credit card or wire transfer).
Apply in Your Language
Click on the language of your choice, and follow the instructions to complete the application and submit the $100 fee (non-refundable/non-transferable).
Once the IEP receives your electronic application, you will receive an email requesting the following documents:
- A Bank Verification Letter
- Photocopy of your passport ID page
- An Apply ESL Supplemental form
Send all requested items to the IEP (iep@miami.edu)
After you are accepted:
Once you submit your application materials, we will process your IEP admission, and issue you an I-20 form. Next, we will send you the acceptance package with the following documents:
- I-20 form
- IEP Acceptance Letter
- Additional instructions for the next steps
- Information about housing, social media, arrival information, immigration, etc.
You will need to make an appointment with the US embassy in your country to obtain your F-1 student visa. Take the following documents to your embassy appointment:
- I-20 form
- IEP Acceptance Letter
- Passport
- Bank Verification Letter
The US embassy will interview you to determine your eligibility for an F-1 student visa. Once you are granted your F-1 student visa, you may buy your plane ticket and begin to plan your adventure in Miami.
